Utricularia australis is an aquatic carnivorous plant and submerged, is part of the Lentibulariacee family. He lives in stagnant water of Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The stem is composed of long filaments grassy (you can also reach the length of 1) meter floating just below the water level on which depart tiny vesicles which act as a trap: the traps operate at suction. Between June and July, the end of a long stem from reddish, leaves the surface of the water a flower golden yellow.
The flower has an erect stem that comes out of the water so allowing its pollination by insects.
During the winter rest, it produces hairy spherical ibernacoli from which are born then new seedlings the following spring. Utricularia australis is a carnivorous plant also very robust and tough: its cultivation is very simple, just keep it outside, it is a very hardy plant and resists even -30 ° in winter temperatures.

The only care to have abundant blooms is to keep the plant in brightly lit areas.

For sale only in bare root (rhizome portion) from March to October.
