Description

Nymphaea 'Almost Black' has dark red flowers of 15-18 cm in diameter, the flower is made up of about 40 petals.
It leaves are of maximum diameter of 20 cm purple color. It occupies a space of 1.4 square meters and goes planted at a depth of 40 - 80 cm. The flower of this water lily takes the darker and more intense color on the third day of opening (and last). Hardy variety that tolerates winter temperatures down to -28 ° C. Of all the water lilies, this is one of the darkest.

This lily has been obtained from the intersection of Nymphaea 'Perry's Fire Opal' and Nymphaea 'Blue Beauty' (36 petals) by Slocum in 1996.
