The main feature of this water lily unique, are the leaves: green variegated with pink spots and brown purple, the only one of all the hardy water lilies. The Waterlily 'Arc en Ciel' produces flowers that emerge from the starry pinkish white form, more pronounced at the base of the petals of 20 cm in diameter and consist of 18-24 petals. This cultivar of medium-large size can be planted at a depth ranging from 50 to 90 cm from the surface of the water and reaches a meter in diameter. For medium to large ponds.
It was bred by Marliac in 1901 probably obtained from Nymphaea odorata rosea x Nymphaea mexicana.
