Matteuccia struthiopteris is a native fern, widespread in northern Italy also known as the "ostrich feather fern". It is a stolonifera fern with vertical crowns and deciduous fronds. It can grow up to 100 to 150 cm in height.

It prefers a neutral or slightly acid ground, and a shadow or half-shade position; in the pond it must be cultivated in the low zone or on always wet ground. Excellent as a ground cover garden plant.

Hardy plant. It can withstands up to -35 ° C.
